Health: here are the winners of the competition “Those good girls” on breast cancer

Great success for appointments promoted by the Beautiful After Breast Cancer Italia Onlus on the occasion of the V International Day for Mammary Reconstruction: the Braday 2016 (Breast Reconstruction Awareness Day) has in fact seen a succession of events and information proposals to which they joined Many Italian hospitals throughout the boot, in particular in Rome, Palermo, Bologna, Milan, Forlì, Modena, Verona and Trento.

Surgical reconstruction is a possibility, as well as a right, which, however, only a third of the patients takes into consideration: “ the breast reconstruction – said the prof.Ssa Marzia Salgarello, president of the Beautiful After Breast Cancer Italia Onlus – Today it is an integral part of the care of mammary neoplasms. Despite this, only a lesser percentage of women subjected to mastectomy performs reconstruction (about 30%). For this reason, the goal of the Braday and the Beautiful After Breast Cancer Onlus Italia is to inform those who face the disease that reconstruction falls within the services of the national health system and can also be carried out in the operating office during the tumor removal;.

This is reconstructive, non -aesthetic surgery, is a right for patients and our duty to let it know, so that they can also reconstruct their lives ”.

A rebirth that can also pass through writing, as a form of therapy, as demonstrated by the national literary competition “those good girls ” of which the ten winners were announced during the BraDay:

– “Butterfly wings” by Francesco face

– “Journey inside me” by Valentina Borsella

– “The end of a myth” by Veronica Corporalongo

– “Fluid alliteration” by Armando Federici

– “The dolls never get sick” by Nina Lorenzo

– “Suddenly” by Roberta Mauri

– “A cruel God” by Maria Rosa Previti

Received from all over Italy, the ten stories tell of men, women, doctors and patients of various ages who, in first person or indirectly, have crossed the pain and fear of breast cancer, and in some cases also the rebirth.
